71 motor swap

will a 74 2.0  bolt up to a 71 1.6 man. trans with no problems sense a 71 also came with 2.0l too....

Another Great question. I can only "assume", that being as I have only seen one type of 2.0 bell housing, that there would not have been a " special" bellhousing and trans just for the 1.6, however the 1.6 and 2.0 motors are verry different. I have seen a different Automatic bellhousing with the starter on the Drivers side ( dont know what that was for but maybe a right hand drive car). I will look into this a little further and get back to you.

i appreciate any info on what to look forward to on switchin this thing out i noticed wright off the bat the intake and  exhaust are on the opp. side from the 2.0 i sure hope the trans bolts up to it i dont want to go and buy another one

Did you ever find out if the 1.6 and 2.0 had the same tranny bolt pattern?
