All these years that the 2.3L has been produced with modest changes I cant believe the after market companies never jumped on the roller
cams band wagon. I know Engliser made their own years before Ford did. but the other companies like Comp, Crane and others. Never took the Ranger followers and matched them to their own cams.

I figured the market for this has passed since the oval trackers have used most of the Mustangs and Pintos, Maybe the Rangers...

I might call blue racer tomorrow

Can someone tell me if the ranger roller cams are interchangeabl e with the older heads up to 1980 or so on pintos. I have a 1980 efi head and want to go with a roller rocker cam set up. I just cannot find out if the ranger roller cams can be swapped. I see them on ebay for under 100.00 and it seems that this would be a good performance and durability change. Thanks,
If your not sure just ask another Pinto Friend. We'll figure it out!! 1979 Orange Sedan 2.3 Restored and 1979 Sedan 2.3 Asphalt Oval Track Racer

Yes they will fit the older heads. I have a few in different motors running around... some D-port and a few Oval-port...

No Performance changes where noticed buy this swap.

I'm a little rusty on my faq's but in the early 80's the D-port came out to reduce gas pudling in the intake runners. The early Pinto heads are origanaly Oval-Ports. these are noting the shape of the out-side (#1 & #2) intake ports shape. the Oval poarts flow more vollum on the intake side naturaly but since the 2.3L head is so restricted on the exhauste side  that is where most head work is really needed.

Hope this helps.
