I have finally gave up on running the pinto's here in Missouri. I run amc spirits only now but it has the heart, and legs of a pinto still(2.3 w/c4 and 8").
Drive the good ones. Derby the rest!
I buy Pinto Spindles.

i got 5 derbies out of the last spirit. i gave $75 for it, it was rust free and brought home a total of $2400 with it. I hated to get rid of it but the front end was too high and couldnt get it to come back down with a forklift.
My brother runs the pinto powered pacers.

I am giving up on the pinto's.  We have been getting our butts kicked by the gremlins.  Guys are putting 20 and 22r engines in them and killing us.  I never would have thought that anything that little would hit so hard.  A bunch of us are trying to get them outlawed right now.  They will run 3+ derby's since they have a full frame.

I'm pretty sure that the Gremlin is a unibody car, just like the Hornet it's based on.

Gremlins are not full frame cars.  Like stated before, they are unibody just like the pinto.  Thats not to say you can't make one a full frame ;)

Well down here in southern ohio lol you would be happy cause this past year they finally banned amc's running with the rest of us. They make them run in a class together which i ran Spirits so it sucks for me but oh well now i just have to find another bastard car to beat them with lol

I strictly run pinto wagons or mustang IIs. I have two 78 wagons built and am working on a 77 mustang II. I ran one of my 78s in 10 derbies last year and am lining it up to start the season with it this year.  Pinto wagons require little work to be the best you can get. Ditch the 6.75 rear end and go with an 8". You wont ever have to worry about it.

FYI, they go to the Spirits maybe for more impact control. Having been under both I can firmly say the unibody on the AMC is quite a bit more robust. Pinto stuff uses thinner metal in their unibody, the thinner smaller pieces are less strong. Look at the crossmembers.. ....... The AMC unibody underneath is virtually the same except in vehicle width as used on bigger boat anchors they made, not so on Pinto/Mustang.
