Any 2.3 motor will drop into a 74 and up with the original motor being a 2.3. Its the wireing that will be different. ( simple answer).

As far as I know, there isn't ANY difference on the 302 blocks, but I have been wrong once ( ;D) and it's possible that I am wrong again... But to put a 302 in a Pinto, yer really gonna need a BFH to get it to fit.

My Dad runs a 71 pinto coupe w/ a 302. it fits just fine with only a few mods like six inch holes in the side walls for the headers, and two Left hand mounts from a 78 King Cobra that slide right into the stock hard mounts. all you have to do is turn the mount for the right side over and, Poof, It's in.
