Tims brake discussion
(1/1)
PintoTim2:
Here's a topic that has been covered before, but I have a different twist. I'm trying to improve the brakes on a few of my project cars (OK, one might be a M-II....) -but- I don't want to go to 15" rims (I think the cars look too modern with 15"+ rims). I have one car that has unique 13" rims only available on that option package so I want to keep them on the car. I got P205/60R13 BFG Radial TA's from Coker Tire already, so the tire problem is solved. I also have 14" turbine rims on my '72 Hatchback that I'd like to improve the braking on that too. There's some drag race brake kits with 10 or 10.5" rotors - but they are light duty. Wilwood has a 11" brake kit that they say will fit "some" 14" rims, but Racer Walsh has a kit that uses Wilwood 10" dual plane rotors and calipers - they say this will fit 13" rims. This kit isn't cheap ($1500+) but looks top notch & includes everything from spindles to bearings. Anybody ever seen this on a street car? Any other ideas for 13-14" rims??

Do you have the stock 9.3” rotors? Any brake improvements? My 72 has a v6, brakes are stock and OK. My V8 car needs more in the brake department.
