What is This Part?
rob289c:
I can't remember where on the car this came from. The pic below may be upside down. It appears I cut some spot welds to remove it. It doesn't seem to fit on the trans hump. Not wide enough to fit over the hump. I'd like to know what it is and where it came from on the car so I can decide if I need it or not. Thank you in advance.
Mattb:
Perhaps the mounting bracket for the console that mounts below the center of the dash in front of the gear selector.
PintoMan1:
that is what it is for. and yes, it is upside down in your picture.

X2 on that. It also provides a bit of rigidity to the dash. Not much Pinto stuff out there. It took about 20 minutes to find a picture that kinda/sorta shows where it goes. First pic found on internet. Second pic is bracket in my car. I use a Murkur XR4Ti center console so the factory unit is not installed (fuse block is from the Turbo Coupe - in case anyone wondered). It does seem that not only is the outer section upside down but the inner section needs to rotate 180 degrees - I think.

Thank you all for the answers! I will look it over when I get home. There is another piece that I thought suited that purpose that I was going to use...I'll post that pic later. My dash is modified and the part I posted may no longer fit for my application. I will report my findings. Thanks again.
