2013 Stampede undergoing changes.
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:51:32 PM »
Ladies and gentlemen,
The previously announced 2013 Stampede to Knott's in April is being changed.  Since turnout was so low we decided to change the location and the date while there was still time to do so.  It appears there was a record low turnout of Pinto's at Knott's last year and this year they moved the date of the Fabulous Fords up to mid April before most people can even get vacation time off.    Compiling this information our board of directors is working on a new location with dates in the summer while there is still time to make a change. We plan on posting new updates here in the coming weeks with the new location and destinations as they arise.  The Stampede will happen and once again will be a great time for those who attend, but the California Stampede is off due to low turnout on the west coast.

Norm, I will be traveling out West in April picking up another Pinto. If it's close enough, I will try to make it for sure.

John.
I hope you can join us, I will be posting a new venue by next week.  I cannot justify driving 6600 miles when we only have two Pinto's signed up other than mine and Joe Escobars and they are coming from places that aren't anywhere near California.  The last two Stampede's we had over a dozen people in the first few days after the announcment.  We have been posting and basically begging for participants to email me if they were interested.  No one did, so if anyone had the intention but never let us know, I am sorry, you should have spoken sooner. It was a tough call, but we couldn't afford to wait any longer, April is coming up too fast, if we push a changed location back to july, August we may be able to salvage this years Stampede and make it a good one.  i hope to see you on the road.

John,

Thanks for the words of support.  This was the hardest decision to make because I really wanted to make this trip.  I actually tried to make the first Stampede start in California, it was a dream of mine to drive across the country in my Pinto, some who came on the forst one experienced that, and for them it was very cool.  Now we need to salvage this years and make it fun and sucessful. If anyone wants to take the reigns and make a California run work, I will be glad to help in any way possible. But time is the enemy right now, so a decision had to be made before it was too late.
