just like the Pinto
« on: August 10, 2010, 07:08:49 PM »
this past weekend my local car club held there yearly car show/cruise
we had the bobcat and the wifes fiero there. i was setting behind the fiero
and to the left of the bobcat talking with my dad when an older couple came up  talking  about the fiero and ask a few questions i answered  then he ask"  didn't they only make these for a few years because they cought fire?" and before i could answer  his wife " yea just like the pinto"  my dad and i looked at each other and smiled as i pointed to my bobcat  and said "you mean  like that one?" she replied " WOW WOW WOW  i did not see that there   that is very nice as  she walked to her  husband and they waked away still chatting about the "pinto"
my dad and started laughing   yea just like the pinto
i think my dad may understand a little why i love the bobcat so much.

Funny I was just talked to a former Fiero owner two days ago, his stories were much like ours.  His story was it was only one model that had the problem and they fixed it, but by that time the story had gotten to far along the eputation was solidified and the care was dead.  :accident: I still feel that killing of the Pinto kept it dear to us, if 1981 had brought abouta Ford escort with a Pinto badge on it, it would not have been the same.  Times changed and so did cars, the very next year everything became tin not steel.  The escort, the chevette, the colt.  The Pinto stayed true right through its run.
